OUR TEACHERS

A small, carefully chosen team

Tarteel House is built on the quiet care of a small group of teachers — chosen one at a time, for the rare combination of Qur’anic depth and the patience to teach a child well.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

What we look for in a teacher

Qualifications open the door. They are never enough on their own.

A serious relationship with the Qur’an.

Every teacher we work with has a deep grounding in Qur’anic recitation and tajwid — most through years of study with recognised scholars or institutions. We ask about their teachers, their training, and the path that brought them here. The Qur’an deserves to be taught by people who carry it with care.

The patience to teach a child.

Teaching a five-year-old who is restless is a different discipline from teaching a teenager who is ready. Our teachers are chosen for the particular calm needed for children — the willingness to repeat, to slow down, and to stay warm even when the lesson does not go as planned.

Clarity in how they teach.

Lessons should not feel improvised. Our teachers know how to build a path forward — week by week, level by level — so families can see the journey unfolding.

A presence children quietly trust.

Through a screen, a child can feel whether a teacher is truly with them. This is harder to articulate than the other three, but it is the one we hold ourselves to most strictly.

MEET THE TEAM

Meet the teachers

A short introduction from each teacher — voice, sometimes video, always honest. Choose the language your family is most comfortable in.

HOW MATCHING WORKS

We do the matching. You confirm in the trial.

Most parents do not want to spend an evening comparing teachers. So we don’t ask you to.

When you book a free trial, share your child’s age, current level, language preference, and anything else that matters — a quiet child, a confident child, a particular teacher gender preference, a difficult schedule. We read every booking personally and propose the teacher we believe fits best.

You meet that teacher in the trial session. If the match feels right to you and your child, you continue with them. If it doesn’t, tell us — and we will help you find a teacher who fits better. We would rather take a second try than let a family settle.

Our matching is done by a person at Tarteel House, not by software. It takes a little longer. We believe it matters.

YOUR CHOICE

You can also choose your own teacher

Some families know exactly which teacher they would like — perhaps because they recognise a teacher’s training, or because the introduction simply spoke to them.

If that’s you, mention the teacher’s name on the booking form. As long as that teacher is currently accepting new families, we will arrange the trial directly with them.

If they are fully booked, we will say so honestly — and offer the closest match from the rest of the team.

BEYOND THE LESSON

The teaching that happens around the session

AFTER EVERY SESSION

A short summary

After each lesson, your child’s teacher writes a brief note — what was covered, how your child engaged, what comes next. You stay informed without having to ask.

EVERY TEN SESSIONS

A check-in call

A 15-minute video call between you and your child’s teacher, where progress is reviewed together. This is the moment when wondering ends and knowing begins.

ALWAYS

A long view of the journey

Our teachers do not see lessons as isolated hours. They are building toward something — your child’s relationship with the Qur’an, over months and years.

COMMON QUESTIONS

About our teachers

Yes. Your child stays with one dedicated teacher throughout the bundle. Consistency is essential — for learning, and for trust.

Yes. Most of our teachers are women. If your family has a preference for a female teacher, please mention it on the booking form and we will match accordingly.

A few of our teachers prefer to introduce themselves through voice rather than video, in keeping with their personal practice. We respect this fully. The voice introduction tells you everything you need to know about how they teach.

Every teacher we work with has been spoken with personally, and their teaching background — including who they studied with and where — is verified before they are invited to join. We are a small team and we plan to stay that way, which is what allows us to choose this carefully.

Tell us honestly after the trial or after a few sessions. We will arrange a different teacher and help with the transition. We do not want any family staying with a teacher who is not the right fit.

Planned absences — for travel or family circumstances — are communicated to families well in advance, and we work with you on rescheduling. We do not assign random substitute teachers without your knowledge.

The teacher matches the language you choose for the sessions. The child experiences the lesson in their preferred language. The website itself is also available in German and French for parents.
